A wild and woolly night and still a brisk breeze wafting about out there. Today that little one are fighting to stay on the feeders. There are still Chickadees, White Throat Sparrows and White Crowned Sparrows as well as the little Clay Coloured Sparrow, (day four) with a male Chipping Sparrow (finally) putting in an appearance. Several Hummingbirds, RubyThroats, males, and just now a possible female. That would be the first she of the season. Looks like Common Grackles are going to nest close by, as are Starlings. Would like to do without them for a bit. I was hoping the two pairs of Tree Swallows would get a break this year. I have yet to find a bird house design that allows them to be safe from the other two. I get around the squirrel problem and now it is predator birds again. Lots of Juncos and a couple of American Goldfinches. The usual Mourning Doves and a Raven as well as a few large Crows. Several Bluejays with the Red-winged Blackbird without the red applet. Maybe he is a juvenile ? Just missing his red? So far that is it for our feeders in White Point, Queens Marg http://margmillard.ca
