You're right, Greg, I'm not so much complaining as I am lamenting the "good
ol' days" (which only happened once, that was last year), when I believe I
had owls on nine stops on one of my routes. I have had my share of surveys
with fewer than 4 owls...I don't think I've ever had zero. It's rare for me
to only get one species though (thankfully, the between-stops GHOW was a
perk), just because of the diversity of habitats through which my two routes
run.

I was supposed to do my second route last night, and two students showed up
to help. The wind was high though (despite the forecast calling only for 20
kph winds), so we did a local nest box run instead (all empty). It turned
out that the wind died down nicely, and I could have done the route. ...sigh
