I enjoy the stories people post about the bird behaviour they observe in
their backyards.

Isn't it nice to have our 'regulars' at our backyard feeders? I worry a
bit when the chickadees, bluejays, crows and other 'regulars' are away a
day or two. Then when the 'regulars' come back it's as exciting as
having a 'guest'. I had 1 male and 1 female Evening Grosbeak
yesterday. My first this year and they used to descend in hordes and
clean the feeder out. What is going on with Evening Grosbeaks or am I
just not this years winter destination hotspot?

We name our wildlife from the Thornton W Burgess children's stories. Of
course, this mean all skunks are Jimmy and all frogs are Grandfather but
its been a great way for the kids to connect to wildlife and give them
an equal level of importance as they do to other people.
We haven't seen Lightfoot this year but there have been many tracks in
the yard. Could be the apples.

Bertha had a whole armload of opinions. She'd go around and collect them
and give them to you all at once.
