Hi Angela,

I'm sitting here at my study window seeing the wind driven snow when I "heard" your message come in. Seeing your topic I decided to respond. I'm watching a flock of about 30 Redpolls jostling for a position at my feeders and chickadees are trying to find a moment to dash in for a seed. I'm enjoying the view and the day, the birds seem happy too but i'm sure they are too focused on food and surviving in this rather wintry day to think about whether they are happy or not. I suppose, they just look that way to me. I'll put it this way, from my study window nature seems to be unfolding as it should today and that makes me happy.

I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying your new location. It's always a special joy to have the Pileated come to the backyard. We have a pair that arrive every once and a while but I have not seen nor heard them since early December. On Thursday we had a nice looking Red Fox make a circuit through the yard, probably checking for hares or pheasants. Enjoy!

I thought I had birds at my old place.....

I've been sitting on the kitchen counter for the last hour watching a female pileated woodpecker working dilegently away on a pine tree.

Two hairy woodpeckers have been working around it, but she doesn't seem to mind in the least.

A good day, a good day.
