It didn't disappoint. We saw the owl hunting actively over the barrens near the trail head at the end of Indian Point Road from about 4:20 to 4:40 pm. The bird may have been active before 4:20; we first saw it on our way back from hiking the trail and were not actively searching for it at the time.
