Recapping an earlier post, my daughter & friend drove down to the Keji Seaside
Adjunct yesterday from Halifax. They came across this unusual purple sand layer
on the beach, about which there was an earlier correspondence and explanation,
started by Angus I think, but I deleted it. Has anyone kept a copy of the
final explanation? -- erosion of a particular rock type of known chemical
composition, as I recall. If anyone still has the e-mail, could they either
post it again here, or send it to me privately?
Thanks,
Steve
Halifax
P.S. On the far roadside on the way down they saw what looked like a dead black
bear cub, and on the way back on the near side it was still there. They didn't
stop (?!) but claim it was too big and unspiny for a porcupine and the wrong
colour and size for a big raccoon, so still concluded it must be a dead bear
cub. It was last seen around 5 PM Sunday, just before a sign that says
"Lunenberg County Line", on the right side of the road heading towards Hfx. I
don't know if an (alleged) dead bear cub is of interest to anyone or should be
reported, but if so, and if anyone is headed down that way, they might want to
keep a look-out for it.
