At Lunenburg, someone on the golf course "rescued" a newly fledged/fledging
Am. goldfinch and took it to the Blockhouse info' centre at Blockhouse Hill.
Too many of these "rescues" are by well-intentioned people but ill-fated for
the birds in question, since they are difficult to rear and then release
back into the wild without being too trustful and dependent upon humans.

Anyhow, this was a definite breeding record for the atlas, James, but you
probably heard about it before this anyway.

Cheers from Jim

I have seen a very young goldfinch fledging struggle in a bush in Big Island
last week. Cheers, liz
