Hi Angus - i concur with Bob. No#7 is a L. quadramaculata aka 4spotted
Skimmer. Great shots of Dragonhunter.
I saw my first Green darner on July 4 and saw 2 more today. But overall I
agree with Bob in that I think this wet weather has had an "effect "on the
flight times of of our odonates. But its starting to warm -up and we should
be seeing some of our Somatochloras (Emeralds ) flying now . Saw literally
100+ the hansome Calico Pennant aka Celithemis elisa flying ( must have been
a mass emergence) saftey in numbers to avoid being predated upon by birds
etc. Also have seen my first Meadowhawks ssp of the summer too !

Cheers , DB

Great pictures, Angus! Could the last one in the set (#7) possibly be a
female Four-spotted Skimmer? The spots and the amber tinge on the forewing
look right. Saw my first darner of the year yesterday (Common Green) - I'm
wondering if all the rain in the past several weeks has slowed down the
odonate season a bit.

Cheers,

Bob McDonald
