Index of Subjects
Index of Subjects Yesterday morning at Palmeter Woods (Kentville) there were many species near the parking lot. I recorded 25 species within 200m. The only new birds for me were Blackpoll Warbler and (2) Wilsons Warblers. One of the latter was singing which was a treat not often heard. I almost stepped on a Junco nest. The nest was on the ground (as most of them are) and was artfully concealed by last year's grass held up by a single horizontally branch. The nest itself was in a hole far enough in so I could not see the eggs. The other day at Butler Road I encountered a number of Veeries but none were vocal. However I heard one calling yesterday along the RR bed. My best find was two Eastern Pine Elfins. Three pics of this fairly rare butterfly are at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/58321572@N00/?deleted=512427024 Angus
