Good evening,

On his last day in town, our son Andrew wanted to go somewhere interesting
for a hike. So we went to Lewis Lake Prov Park and the adjacent St.
Margaret's Bay Trail. Not realizing the park was open, we walked in along
the SMB trail from Highway 3, past Round Lake, across the bridge and turned
around at a large raised bog on the left hand side. On our return we walked
the park loop road before returning to the car.

Nature of interest:
 - both blue and white violets in bloom
 - goldthread in bloom
 - leatherleaf in bloom in the bog (carpets of it!!)

Serviceberry and pin cherry in bud (will be in bloom within a few days)

Birds noted:
 - Yellow-rumped Warbler (4)
 - Palm Warbler (3)
 - Northern Parula (1)
 - Black-throated Green Warbler (1)
 - Chestnut-sided Warbler (~4)
 - Nashville Warbler (~6)
 - Black-and-white Warbler (2)

Pair of Common Loons on the lake
Osprey over the lake
DC Cormorant
Song, White-throated and Swamp Sparrows
Several N Flickers and one Downy Woodpecker

In addition, two (presumably a pair) Brown Creepers were very active and one
appeared to be carrying what looked like nesting material.....

In addition, lots of beaver signs on the trail beside Round Lake.

All in all, a great day for a walk, and the rain held off!

Cheers,

Bob McDonald
