We have had a Fox Sparrow here for over two weeks, in fact it seldom seems
to leave. It looks very much as if having found an endless supply of food
there was no reason to go anywhere else. It is still more skittish than the
Chipping Sparrows, Juncos and Song Sparrows which take my free food all day
long, but it comes back quickly after being spooked, and is here often
enough to have posed for some detailed photos. After a good feed this
afternoon it rewarded me by sitting in the cedar tree by the picture window
and singing its heart out for about 30 minutes. Maybe it's thinking of
nesting nearby? The song is absolutely beautiful and far better than any of
the other sparrow variants I have heard.
