Hi All; For all this autumn and early January I have had many Black-capped Chickadees making numerous daily visits to by feeders. The visits are naturally more frequent on cold days, less so on warm ones, but at least 30+ birds were present, the combined total of several flocks. However, only one or two birds were noted as of last Sunday, when it was still warm, and that number has remained fairly constant since then, despite the downs and ups of the temperature this week. And flocks of chickadees are also much more scarce on my walks on local trails in the Prospect Peninsula and Shag End. Has anyone else noted a sudden loss of chickadees? Cheers, ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blake Maybank Editor, "Nova Scotia Birds" author, "Birding Sites of Nova Scotia" http://maybank.tripod.com/BSNS.htm 144 Bayview Drive White's Lake, Nova Scotia, B3T 1Z1, Canada maybank@ns.sympatico.ca (902) 852-2077 -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
