On West Hants Christmas Count day the yard was totally quiet - the only
birds we saw all day was a few crows and gulls. This morning there is
activity everywhere.

The Yellow-bellied sapsucker was first spotted at 10:30. He fed a while
at the bird pie feeder and then flew off. He was back again just now at
the metal silo feeder filled with large sunflower seeds.

The sapsucker was spotted here a couple of weeks ago. There are many
days when no one is at home during the day so it is difficult to know if
it has started coming regularly to the feeders or not. The best time to
see this bird seems to be between 10 am and noon.

For anyone hoping to see this bird you are welcome to drop by. The
favourite feeders containing the bird pies are hanging from the ceiling
of our covered deck out back.
