Hi All Today BB and I went to the same place as yesterday but took the left hand trail. It went through very different country. First we came to big rock outcrops - long ones just like those in Whale Lake - some 50 m or more and 3 - 4 m high. Covered with moss. and slippey! Next was a Lunenburg drumilin. Quite high and covered with a nice grove of hardwoods. Beech, Maple, Oak along with a few populars. Not many birch. Nice trees - not hugh - 30 cm size. After the drumlin, the hill dropped sharply - the water had carved out the road - some places 2 m deep. Then it turned into what I thought was an old winter road for sleighs. Oven or horses - depending. This road lead right to Whale lake and came to the lake in a little cove. A pair of old stakes on the shore indicated the it had became a road on the ice at one time. The stakes so you could be sure you were in the right place before you went into the woods. Prehaps the ice was bushed in the winter. The horses or oxen were good at finding their way home. We don't depend much on animals anymore to find the way. Used to - just relax and let them do the thinking. Thats why I let BB take me home - reminds me of the old days with horses and sleighs. Birds were different today - a ruffed grouse and a red tailed hawk were all. The drumlin looked like a good spot in the summer for nests. Enjoy the winter Paul __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
