A few months ago.....we put up several bird feeders on our fromt
step...lovely...chickadees...nuthatches, juncos etc. One day there was a
large rat sitting on our step....helping himself to the food....long story
short.....soon we also had about 8 baby rats running around on our step.
Wasnt going over well with the household.
I run a wildlife rehab centre, and counsel people over the phone all the
time about humane solutions to wildlife issues. Sooooo, moved the feeder to
the back fence......the rats followed. About 2 days later an first year red
tailed hawk....was perched on our clothesline pole....intently staring at
the feeder. To make a long story short..one month later and he's Still
here...rats are gone, and the small birds at the feeder ignore him as they
know he is not a threat to them. Amazing to see this bird UP CLOSE
everyday...got some good pics too, I hope he stays

Helene
