Hi All
BB and I went for a walk today to a spruce swamp. Very
interesting spot. Not a lot of other folks there.
We saw a Spruce Grouse - it was sitting in a tree
maybe 5 m away. Then it flew a meter or two. Sat on a
branch pumping its tail and showing the chestnut band
on its tail. It was cackling very lowly all the while.
Little wonder its called a "Fool Han"!
The interesting thing was how easily it hide itself in
the spruce tree - invisible at only 6 - 7 m but almost
in full view.
Then we saw a Grey Jay - not many around here and this
one had interests elsewhere. So flew off -
a good day to visit a spruce swamp -
Have a nice fall
Paul
