I'm not sure how to answer this question. Polistes fuscatus and many  
species of Vespula are common in Nova Scotia. I'm not sure how one  
could determine which is more common.

Could be be any of of them.

I've no way of knowing. If you take a photograph or collect a  
specimen, then we have some place to start from. ;->
