Hi Angus,

As mentioned previously there is:

Vickery, V.R. 1961. The Orthoptera of Nova Scotia. Proceedings of the =20=

Nova Scotian Institute of Science, 25(1): 1-70.

Also, I thoroughly recommend:

Vickery, V.R. and Kevan, D.K.E. 1985. The Grasshoppers, Crickets, and =20=

Related Insects of Canada and Adjacent Regions: The Insects and =20
Arachnids of Canada Part 14. Agriculture Canada: Research Brach =20
publication 1777. 918 pp.

This is a superb volume with species accounts, range maps, keys, =20
illustrations, glossary, literature cited, etc. It is available =20
through NHBS (and other vendors as well) for 29 GBP (=3D ~ $61 CAD).

http://www.nhbs.com/title.php?tefno=3D37055

One used to be able to buy it (and other volumes of the The Insects =20
and Arachnids of Canada series) directly from Agriculture Canada but =20
I'm not sure if this is still possible and I can't find the contacts.

For bees there is Javorek and MacKenzie's website on the bees of the =20
Maritime Provinces:

http://res2.agr.ca/Kentville/pubs/bees-abeilles_e.htm

And:

Sheffield, C. S., P. G. Kevan, R. F. Smith, S. M. Rigby, and R. E. L. =20=

Rogers. 2003. Bee species of Nova Scotia, Canada, with new records =20
and notes on bionomics and floral relations (Hymenoptera: Apoidea). =20
Journal of the Kansas Entomological Society 76: 357=96384.

Cheers!

Chris
