If you collect some (a good number, i.e. 20-40 would be ideal to start
a breeding colony), you can keep them alive by putting some seaside goldenrod
in with them (or some other coastal flower that produces lots of pollen)
and could then get them to me ASAP at the Nova Scotia Museum, I can arrange
to ship them to the Smithsonian.

Hi Chris & All, Aug 1, 2006
I visited Kingsport marsh, Houston Beach and Lyons Cove Sunday, July
30 & drew a blank on Naemia but did find a beetles Family and
2 (3?) Genera new to me; (Anthicidae (Antlike Flower Beetle)), perhaps
Sapintus pusillus, a large Rove Beetle (likely Platydracus), a
small Ground Beetle (probably Apristus subsulcatus (Dejean)) and a
parallel-sided Rove Beetle.

It was perhaps too early to locate Naemia as potential pollen
sources (S. sempervirens, Iva) are not yet open.

Hauled the first load of wood this afternoon and some sweat bees (Halictids)
had a picnic on my arm when I got back.
