Successful graduates are equipped with concrete skills and expertise in organic farm and process certification and are eligible to begin working as organic inspectors. These courses present an intensive in-depth exploration of certified organic farming and processing, identifying key control points in organic systems. Participants will be well prepared for upcoming changes in Canadian certification policy, with skills in: - US (NOP) and Canadian national organic standards interpretation - Investigative and report writing skills - Conduction of audit trails and field inspections Applications for the 2005 IOIA Basic Organic Farm and Process Inspector training courses are now being accepted! The training will be held at Falls Brook Centre in Knowlesville, New Brunswick and will include two consecutive 4 day courses: Basic Farm Inspector (October 15-18) and Basic Process Inspector (October 19-22). Teaching methods include classroom instruction by Canadian Organic Growers President, Janine Gibson, field trips to local organic farms and processors, mock inspections with reports, and examinations. Class size is limited to maintain a high level of interaction between students and instructors, guest presenters and field trip hosts. Registration for both courses is $2830 CDN plus $56 for IOIA required training manual (individual course: $1415 CDN plus manual) which includes all meals and accommodations. Falls Brook Centre is set in the rolling hills of the Saint John River Valley, nestled in the Acadian forest. Accommodations are rustic yet comfortable, focused on sustainable living and resource conservation. Registrations accepted no later than September 1st.
