We will also explore criminalization of dissent, the so-called "War on Terrorism", the global protest movement, and the role of industrial capitalism, governments, corporations, and war on the environment and health. We will examine ways of taking action and reducing our ecological footprint, and there will be an opportunity for skills-sharing (eg. zine-making, poster making, computer skills, and media relations). Friday night will feature a potluck supper and the opportunity for participants to discuss, prioritize their interests, and shape the focus of the weekend. We encourage (but do not require) a donation of $10-$20 for food and other costs. Young parents are welcome to bring your children. Please let us know if you need a ride or can offer one. Please also indicate any special needs (eg. allergies). Hosted by Earth Action in Millvale, PEI. Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is that numbers of people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of the leaders of their government and have gone to war, and millions have been killed because of this obedience. . . Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves, and all the while the grand thieves are running and robbing the country. That's our problem." -- Howard Zinn, "Failure to Quit", p. 45 Independent and Alternative Information Sources http://newstandardnews.net/ http://www.indymedia.org/ http://www.infoshop.org/inews/ http://dominionpaper.ca/ http://www.FromOccupiedPalestine.org/ http://globalresearch.ca/ http://www.zmag.org/ http://cyberjournal.org/ http://www.rabble.ca/ http://www.prwatch.org/ --=======2CE656D1=======-- ____________________________________________________________________________ Did a friend forward this to you?
