"America's Predictable Fiasco in Iraq and the Wider Implications of
Bush's Failure to Win the Peace"

Free Public lecture by Scott Taylor well-known Halifax Herald
correspondent, award-winning journalist, best selling author and Esprit
de Corps editor

Thursday, July 8
7:00-8:30 p.m.
Room 307
Student Union Bldg.
Dalhousie University
6136 University Ave.

Scott Taylor, a former professional soldier, has been editor and
publisher of Esprit de Corps, an Ottawa-based magazine. Taylor has
logged over one million air miles as a war correspondent reporting from
such global hot spots as the Persian Gulf, Cambodia, Western Sahara,
Croatia, Bosnia, and most recently from Iraq, Turkey, Yugoslavia,
Kosovo, and Macedonia. Since August 2000, Taylor has made a total of 15
trips into Iraq to report on the effects of the UN sanctions, the
ravages of depleted uranium following the 1991 Gulf War, and the
heightening tensions with the United States. Scott regularly appears in
the Canadian media as a military analyst.

Spinning on the Axis of Evil - Book Description
Spinning on the Axis of Evil is Scott Taylor's fifth book and is his
personal experiences gathered during 14 separate trips into Iraq -
before and after the toppling of Saddam's regime. This book provides a
rare insight into the plight of the Iraqi people who, in a single
generation, suffered through three devastating wars and 13 years of
crippling sanctions. From clandestine talks with Saddam's top
intelligence officials to dinner table chats with ordinary citizens,
Taylor reveals what it was like to be inside Iraq during the dramatic
countdown to Bush's declaration of war. Put into historical context and
with a rare inside view of Saddam's regime, "Spinning on the Axis of
Evil" provides a unique perspective on President Bush's intervention in
Iraq. Books will be available for sale at a discount of only $20 at the
public lecture.
