Hey,

As some of you know, my sister (Jeanne) and I have been on strike for 48
DAYS as of today (Tuesday, 27 May). My job as a "group home worker"
(a.k.a. Therapeutic Counsellor Assistant) has been a part-time one for
three years and was supposed to have been my summer employment starting
about 2 months ago.

There are two ways you can support us which you can find at the following
website:

www.nsgeu.ns.ca

1. We are asking people to sign an ONLINE PETITION in support of our
request for THIRD PARTY BINDING ARBITRATION. The great thing about this
petition is that you don't have to agree with either side or take a stance
on the many issues. It's just saying that you agree that this is a fair
way to end a strike that has gone on way too long. Basically, we're
willing to accept whatever outcome of arbitration (which may or may not be
favourable), but the government has been reluctant to so far.

Please note: that it requires your complete contact info for verification
purposes, BUT only your city will appear in the petition, and the info
will only be used for the purposes of the petition.

2. You can also EMAIL YOUR MLA. The website has a form letter, plus a
handy dandy way of contacting them. If this is something you're willing
to do, then feel free to edit or personalize the letter and send this.

FOR MORE INFO: Also at the top website, click on the sentence "Take action
in support of local 66" and that will take you to a section containing
more information. Note that the online petition and the email to MLAs are
only accessible from the homepage.

Thanks so much. There are so many different issues (e.g., replacement
workers getting paid up to $50/hour - confirmed by employer and in the
Herald - at a house that I work at!!)... If you have any questions at all
or would like any other info, please don't hesitate to email me.

Lilli

p.s. Please feel free to distribute this message to anyone you wish.
