Residents of Lunenburg County are invited to make short (10-minutes maximum) presentations to Lunenburg Municipal Council at a one-time public meeting on this issue. July 10, 2003, 7:00 p.m. Municipal Council Chambers 210 Aberdeen Road, Bridgewater (This replaces the meeting originally scheduled for June 25th.) Every voice is important. Please contribute if you have something to say about pesticides used for cosmetic (lawn, garden and property care; not agricultural or tree farming) purposes. Are you concerned about human or animal health, soil degradation, well contamination, or misleading marketing? Have you been forced out of your home or office, or made ill because of pesticides nearby? Have pesticide applications around commercial centres prevented you from buying groceries or going to the bank? Whatever your experience or concern, it's important to convey it to Council. If you would like to see a protective pesticide bylaw enacted in Lunenburg County (see the Halifax Pesticide Bylaw website at <http://www.region.halifax.ns.ca/pesticides/> for information on the Halifax bylaw), this is your chance to make your views known. If you are unable to attend, please prepare a written submission, and mail it, before July 5th, to Mr. Douglas Quinn, CAO, Municipality of the District of Lunenburg, P.O. Box 200, Bridgewater, N.S. B4V 2W9. Be sure to request that your letter be included with the material Council will read/hear on this topic at the public meeting or at any other time. Please send a copy of your letter to the South Shore Pesticide Reduction Action Group (SSPRAG), R.R. #1, LaHave, N.S. B0R 1C0 (Fax: 902-688-1553). This will help us verify that your letter has been included in the packages all municipal councillors will receive. With a large community effort, we can make a difference here on the South Shore. Please contribute if you can. Thank you! __________________________________________________ Susan Bone South Shore Pesticide Reduction Action Group R.R.#1, LaHave, N.S.
