Two events and one news item you might be interested. 


1) Potluck Lecture with Chief Bassey Archibong
Chief Archibong of Nigeria is the Interim Executive Director for the
Non-Government Organization Coalition for the Environment (NGOCE). Come
out to learn about how Chief Archibong and this environmental group are
saving the rainforest in Cross River State, developing sustainable
management of resources, and helping the rural and urban communities in
southwestern Nigeria.

2) Social and Environmental Responsibility Pledge Ceremony for
Graduating Students

At the ceremony, each student recites the pledge, receives a pledge card
and a green ribbon. The pledge reads: “I pledge to explore and take into
account the social and environmental consequences of any job I consider
and will try to improve these aspects of any organizations for which I
work.” Family and friends are encouraged to attend. There will be light
refreshments.

If you are interested in taking the pledge, please contact

Bike-pedalling rewarding, Norwegian civil staff told.
Reuters. Oslo. Norwegian municipal workers are being offered cash
incentives to get on their bikes as part of a government drive to
encourage pedal power and cut car use. The scheme, which also aims to
boost fitness, started yesterday and will pay civil employees about 60
cents for every kilometre they cycle while on business up to a maximum
journey of five kilometres. The ride to and from work will not count.

to be a mother... according to a study released yesterday. In its annual
Mothers Index, relief group Save the Children compared the well-being of
mothers and their children in 117 countries...
