Call for Submissions (send us your photos!) IN SOLIDARITY: Images of Life on the Axis of Evil and Beyond (1945 – present) IN SOLIDARITY is collecting photographs that portray everyday life in the 24 countries that share the common experience of being bombed by the United States since the end of World War II. Cuba, Japan, China, Korea, Guatemala, Indonesia, Congo, Peru, Dominican Republic, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Grenada, Lebanon, Puerto Rico, Libya, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Iraq, Sudan, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia The goal of the show is to create a sense of solidarity amongst people who feel that the US war on Iraq is unjust. The show will, at the same time, confront past acts of US aggression in countries around the world. It will provide a truer portrait of life in these countries. These are real people, real places, real homes, not just glorified images of war on TV that we don’t want to pay attention to anymore, or can’t bear to face. Pictures may be of family, friends, community events, travel, workplace, scenery, celebrations, etc. Images of everyday life. The photos will be displayed in businesses, galleries and public spaces throughout the city. The city-wide show will open on Monday, May 5th, 2003, with a reception at Bella Muse, 2530 Agricola Street on Saturday, May 10th, 2003. ·We are looking for a large number of photos with content as our most important selection criteria ·Photographs may be of any size - the larger, the better ·Unframed photos will be accepted, framed is preferred ·To be included for the show opening, all photos must be submitted by April 28th, 2003 Please be sure to include your name, address and phone number on the back of each photograph. Include the date of the photo, the country in which the photo was taken and a brief description or title of the photograph, in clear, legible text. Every effort will be made to return all photos submitted.
