What should they NOT be expected to do? · What skills & resources do you need to manage volunteers? · Delegating responsibility effectively. · Appreciation and rewards for volunteers. · Resources for training volunteers and volunteer managers. · Training volunteers – what do they need to know? · What are the responsibilities of the employer? · Anti-harassment policies and procedures – why they are needed, what they are… Our workshop facilitator, Dr Irene Novaczek is an independent marine scientist who has worked with many environmental and social justice organizations including the Canadian Environmental Network, Environmental Coalition of PEI, Earth Action and Save Our Seas and Shores Coalition. From 1996 through 1998 Irene and her family lived in Indonesia as CUSO volunteers, while she worked on coral reef conservation and management. Since returning to PEI in 1998 Irene has held a position on the boards of CUSO, the PEI Environmental Network, Sierra Club of Canada marine issues table and the Southern Gulf of St Lawrence Coalition on Sustainability steering committee. Since 1999, Irene has worked as a researcher and community development facilitator on PEI and in the Pacific Islands.
