Join fellow sea kayakers and open canoeists for a leisurely paddle
along the shorelines of McNabs Island and Lawlor Island in Halifax
Harbour. We will stop at several hard-to-reach-on-foot beaches and
collect litter. Plastic bags will be provided, and a motorboat from the
McNabs Island Ferry Company will pick up the full bags afterwards.

PFDs have to be worn while on the water; and a 15 m floating line, a
bailer, and a whistle should be on board as per Canadian Coast Guard
regulations. Bring your own lunch, water, and rain gear. Sorry, we are
unable to lend you a boat.

Meet at 10:00 AM at the unpaved parking lot near Dooks Wharf in
Shearwater (across from Tim Horton's on the highway to Eastern Passage),
on Saturday, September 14. Rain date: Saturday, September 21.

Contact Dusan Soudek at 422-1045 (evenings) or at
soudekd@ns.sympatico.ca for more information or to pre-register. There
is no fee and everyone is welcome. Sponsored by The Friends of McNabs
Island Society and by Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia.

N.B. The new McNabs and Lawlor Islands Provincial Park, embracing 432
hectares of near-wilderness and some 20 km of undeveloped shoreline in
the middle of Atlantic Canada's largest urban area, is expected to be
announced in late September
