Join fellow sea kayakers and open canoeists for a leisurely paddle along the shorelines of McNabs Island and Lawlor Island in Halifax Harbour. We will stop at several hard-to-reach-on-foot beaches and collect litter. Plastic bags will be provided, and a motorboat from the McNabs Island Ferry Company will pick up the full bags afterwards. PFDs have to be worn while on the water; and a 15 m floating line, a bailer, and a whistle should be on board as per Canadian Coast Guard regulations. Bring your own lunch, water, and rain gear. Sorry, we are unable to lend you a boat. Meet at 10:00 AM at the unpaved parking lot near Dooks Wharf in Shearwater (across from Tim Horton's on the highway to Eastern Passage), on Saturday, September 14. Rain date: Saturday, September 21. Contact Dusan Soudek at 422-1045 (evenings) or at soudekd@ns.sympatico.ca for more information or to pre-register. There is no fee and everyone is welcome.
