Kyoto and Climate Change: The Challenge for Us All

Guy Dauncey, B.C. author of award winning "Stormy Weather: 101 Solutions
to Global Climate Change", will present simple and effective solutions
that everyone, from businesses, to cities, to citizens, can take to reduce
their greenhouse gas emissions. Guy is a sustainable communities
consultant and the publisher of EcoNews, a monthly environmental
newsletter. He lives in Victoria, B.C. 

Guy will be joined by Larry Hughes and Phil Thompson who will present with
a focus on next steps for Nova Scotia and Nova Scotians. Larry Hughes is a
Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering,
Dalhousie University and has written and spoken extensively on climate
change. Phil Thompson is Director of the Atlantic Chapter of the Sierra
Club and a long-time advocate for energy conservation. They both have
built houses that make use of energy conservation measures and renewable
energy.


The presentations will be reasonably brief to allow lots of opportunity
for questions and discussion.

QUARTZ MINE WORRIES WILDERNESS WARRIORS 
Environmentalists are concerned a new quartz mine in Yarmouth county will
pose a threat to the area's wilderness reserves. Black Bull Resources has
permission to open the mine, adjacent to the <A Tobeatic Wilderness
Reserve</A>, the province's largest protected area.
