Hi all! some of you may have been following the straw bale construction project at Seymour Green over the last week and a half. You may also be aware that Dalhousie is currently undertaking some major renovations of the houses around the garden site. The impact of these renovations on Seymour Green is twofold. First, Dalhousie is requiring that we move the straw bale shed to another location on the garden site by Sunday (it apparently is in the way of the contractors, although the contractors say that it isn't!!) And second, Several of the garden's beds have been flattened by the large equipment used by the contractors in painting the houses. So far we've lost all of our watermelon, bok choi and probably all of the brussel sprouts. The pumpkins are almost all destroyed. I was at the site today and rescued as much as I could. The short of it is that Seymour Green needs as much people help over the next week or so (particularly this weekend) as it can muster. If you can spare a few hours at any time please contact Chris Holmes at 497-2898 or Janet Burt-Gerrans at 475-1926 to coordinate times. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Seymour Green seems to be under attack at the moment.... nspirg nova scotia public interest research group 6136 university ave halifax, ns b3h 4j2 902-494-6662 nspirg@is2.dal.ca co-executive directors : janet burt-gerrans ben hirtle -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- The preceding message was posted on the Sustainable Maritimes mailing list (sust-mar). http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/lists/sust-mar -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Volunteer moderator: Paul Falvo mailto:sust-mar-owner@chebucto.ns.ca To submit a message to sust-mar, please send it to: mailto:sust-mar@chebucto.ns.ca PLEASE SEND MESSAGES TO SUST-MAR IN PLAIN TEXT ONLY MESSAGES CONTAINING HTML (MIME) CANNOT BE POSTED
