MEDIA RELEASE FRIENDS OF McNABS ISLAND SOCIETY Annual General Meeting (Dartmouth, April 16, 2001) The Friends of McNabs Island Society, a non- profit community group committed to the preservation of McNabs and Lawlor Islands for use as a nature park, will hold their 11th Annual General Meeting May 1, 2001 at 7 p.m. Findlay Community Centre Elliot Street, Dartmouth (off Prince Albert Road across from Sullivan's Pond) The meeting will feature a presentation on Collecting Oral History on McNabs Island. Saint Mary's University professor, Jim Morrison, and Parks Canada historian, Ron McDonald, will discuss the McNabs Island Oral History Project and present sample interviews from people who lived or worked on the Harbour Islands. This is a great opportunity for those who have information or personal experience of time spent on McNabs Island to share it with others. Professor Morrison and Dr. McDonald plan to continue this oral history project and will be conducting further interviews.
