Index of Subjects Thank yo for your comments regarding this issue. i agree with a great majority of what you said, though I do tak issue with your last couple of comments. 1) The environmental issue is PROFOUNDLY political. The two most important environmental issues today are overconsumption throughout the industrialized world and the coninuing rise in the global population. As I said to my class yesterday while discussing the issues of ozone depletion and global warming "if I could drop magic dust on everyone while they slept tonite to make them only consume what they truly needed and a small fraction of what they wanted, the world's ecnomic system would be in profound crisis within a week or a month". This surely has political implications. 2) ABout the "right-to-farm" groups and how to oppose them (since they are attempting to stifle debate by asserting rights which are not in our constitution). IN a place as small as PEI it's a very tough call when figuring out how to deal with this. The overuse of pesticides both on farms and next to homes is one of the very toughest issues if you're asking truly ecological questions about the planet and the future. Where do people's rights end and nature's begin? I could go on but I have a class in a few minutes. Let's just keep talking and acting as well as we can on these issues. Later.
