Index of Subjects Fred, The Dalhousie Oceanogrpahy Department had no role in the hearings at all. Bob Fournier was not there representing the department, but rather in his role as a member of the upper administration of the university. In fact, Bob spends the vast majority of his time in his office as VP Research and very little time in the department. I therefore fail to see what the funding sources here have to do with the SABLE hearings. If you want to know what the funding sources are I can tell you: a) All the faculty have operating grants from NSERC; b) Some of the funding here has come from PERD, which looks at, among other things, offshore storms and their impacts on any number of users (including fishermen and the oil industry). c) Environment Canada and DFO through industrial research chairs d) Some American money, including the Coastal Divisions of USGS and other departments. e) Miscellaneous other research grants and contracts f) NS government money for core salaries and offices etc. etc. My point to you is what does this have to do with anything? If you're trying to draw a connection between where I get my money and what I say publicly then I think you're barking up the wrong tree since my salary comes exclusively from f), the same as any teacher in any school in the province. ________________________________________________________________ Owen Hertzman E-mail: Owen.Hertzman@Dal.Ca Dept. of Oceanography Phone: (902) 494-3683 Dalhousie University FAX: (902) 494-2885 Halifax, NS CANADA, B3H 4J1 On Wed, 25 Nov 1998, Fred Hall wrote: > Dear Folks , > Millwood Emvironmental Action Team who were official intervenors at > the Sable Hearings asked Dalhousie Oceanography Dept. to suply its > funding sources .
