Hi everyone,

Here in the office we are attempting to streamline the IP registration
process as we get ready for volunteer groups who might soon sign-up with us
as a result of the VolNet training program.

These groups will have already received an in-class six hour workshop on
the Internet, using email, browsing, newsgroups, etc. Thus, for them and
others who will follow, I want a very simple process that will allow them
to sign-up for an IP service, pay for their membership (which will provide
a basic service), as well as abide by a user agreement. If they wish, they
can also take some further training, but it will not be compulsory. This
has all lead to a rethink of how the office should best administer the IP
accounts area.

However, with regard to the IP Editor support service we provide, I would
still like to have the new IP member select what IP section they might like
to belong to within Chebucto's community information roster, which in turn
would lead to an 'assigned IP Editor' who would (if requested by the new
member) assist them with any questions after they register.

Further to this, I would like to pull together a meeting with the IP
Editors and the IP Committee to begin planning a Chebucto Community
information index for our IP members that would provide clear search
pathways for our users to find and our Editors to manage.

This will entail not only a search process of our current IPs, but
determining how we might partner with other community players in
constructing a vaulable community information portal in the HRM. Can we
look at a meeting here at the Chase Building next Tuesday afternoon at 4pm
? I'm open to other suggested dates or times, but would like to get moving
on this soon.

In either case, this is the PROPOSED fee structure for IP Groups
(all fees are renewable on a yearly basis). Your feedback is appreciated.

Cheers,
Leo
