We are aware of this problem, but unfortunately, due to lack of
funding, it is a very difficult problem to solve. You can certainly
apply vendor OS patches, and you shouldn't be running anything on the
machine that isn't needed by CSuite. Hopefully, CSuite 1.1 will be out
soon (we're just doing a bit of tidying up of the upgrade scripts and
the documentation).

Blame it on the Linux people; they're the one's that decided to
not have backwards compability. An example is that support for [sg]tty
functions have been removed from recent Linux kernels. This is
something that has been in UNIX for a very long time. Removing it
broke ispell amongst other things. Another big problem is that the
format of the utmp/wtmp files have changed. Current versions of Linux
aren't even binary backwards compatible, much less source backwards
compatible. There is no easy way for us to produce a binary that will
run on multiple versions of Linux for a number of the CSuite programs.

Perhaps, but be prepared to have some grueling sessions with
anpages, digging through headers files, gdb, etc.
