There is an excellent overview/guide to search engine selection located at: http://www.searchtools.com/info/guide.html The document is titled: "Web Admin's Guide to Site Search Tools - How to Choose, Implement and Maintain your Web Site Search Tools" The document is written clearly and provides both a general overview and links to definitions/explainations/background of terms that might not be familiar to everyone with a stake/interest in making 'content' accessible. (This is the WWW/html at it's best!) The section: http://www.searchtools.com/info/guide.html#Preparing ...should be brought to the attention of all Information Providers (Webmasters/Site Administrators). The section: http://www.searchtools.com/info/guide.html#basic ...is probably the ideal starting point for CCN/CSuite to undertake the selection of a new search engine. This section includes a set of links to documents that detail the process undertaken by the University of Pennsylvania to identify/test a suitable search-engine capacity. Penn Computing undertook this a couple of years ago so the available products/final selection are likely very different today, but the process they used should serve us very well. If you have an interest in making 'content' accessible you should review this document.... david potter
