hi everyone I hope this doesn't confuse things, but . . . When I brought the first proposal on an IP fee/membership structure to the board I had recommended that a small task group be put together to review the proposed fee structure and work out implementation details. I felt this was important because its impossible for the IP committee (or indeed any small group within CCN) to understand *all* of the implications that such a proposal might have. Well it seems that many of these implications have come up in the email discussions over the past few weeks. So- I submit the following 2nd draft for your consideration. It's my attempt to resolve some of the issues that have been raised; I'm sure it will raise others. I would propose this as our first/next step in the development of IP memberships with the understanding that additional "levels" and services would be added in the future and as our resources allow. I've cc'd the IP committee, could other board members cc those groups and individuals within CCN that might have some useful insights. Thanks ---- Peter Mortimer Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada DRAFT 2 - IP Proposal A. Basic IP (essentially what is now provided): -- IP contributes at level affordable to organization; CCN provides up to 25 mb* web space in one of its directories, two majordomo mail lists, on-line tutorials, and other support now available through volunteer channels; all mail lists, accounts, etc. are "owned" by the IP's editor (* 25 mb to be enforced sometime in the future), B. IP with Virtual Domain Name: (1) set up (one time cost incurred by IP; contribution includes one year's hosting at 'Basic level' by CCN) (1.a) if CCN registers name on behalf of IP - $400 (1.b) if IP already owns a registered domain name - $300 (2) hosting virtual domain (2.a) Basic level (as 'A' above but without any limit to web space) - annual cost to IP - $200 C. Organizational package (PPP access, up to 10 email addresses, up to 5 mail lists, no limit to web space, organization takes responsibility for all usage) (1) with virtual domain - annual cost to IP - $600 (2) without virtual domain - annual cost to IP - $400 The organizational package should also include up to XXXX hours of training and support.
