SAT Volunteer Needs
Volunteers are needed to help with all aspects of creating and delivering
documentation, support, and training. There are jobs for all skill
levels, even those who have just begun using the Chebucto Community Net.
If you have time to give, it would be greatly appreciated.
The tasks are divided among the various Support and Training Teams.

IP Training
- Current team leader: Bob Adams
- Mailing list & archive: trainers, training (shared with User Training)
- Tasks for Information Provider (IP) Training Volunteers:
- 1. Make arrangements for short- or long-term training facilities for IP
training courses.
- 2. Train new IPs through regularly scheduled courses or through
courses scheduled by special arrangement with a given IP or IPs.
- 3. Train new members of the IP Training Team to prepare them to
become trainers themselves.
- 4. Coordinate available trainers with available sites to ensure a
steady offering of IP Training courses.
- 5. Assist with curriculum development under the team leader.
- 6. Assist with the production of current, relevant training material
under the direction of the team leader.
- 7. Serve as a teaching assistant to the primary trainer of any given
IP training course.
User Training
- Current team leader: Clive Bagley
- Mailing list(s) & archive(s): training; trainers - shared with IP
Training
- Tasks for User Training Volunteers:
- 1. Make arrangements for short- or long-term training facilities for
User Training courses.
- 2. Train new users through regularly scheduled courses or through

- 3. Train new members of the User Training Team to prepare them to

Help Documentation
- Current team leader: David Potter
- Mailing list & archive: helpdoc (formerly helpdesk), csuite-doc
- Tasks for Help Documentation volunteers:
- 1. Assume responsibility for the development and maintenance of a
specified page or topic area under the direction of the Help Documentation
team leader.
- 2. Act as a "tester" to monitor the clarity and helpfulness of help
documentation.
- 3. Test links in a given topic area on a regular basis to ensure that
they are accurate and functional.
- 4. Develop on-line tutorials for User Training and IP Training
courses in conjunction with volunteers from these teams.
- 5. Maintain information about new/draft help documentation for other
Help Documentation volunteers to test.
- 6. Under the direction of the Help Documentation team leader, assist
with the development of a modular structure for all help documentation.
Userhelp
- Current team leader: Norman De Forest
- Mailing list: userhelp, help-answers
- Tasks for Usehelp volunteers:
- 1. Join the userhelp team as a passive member by subscribing to the
"help-answers" mailing list, which acts as a mechanism for storing
answers to user questions and introducing new volunteers to the
operational structure of Userhelp.
- 2. Join the userhelp team as an active member responding to user
questions by subscribing to the "userhelp" mailing list.
- 3. Assist with the development and maintenance of FAQ documents under
the direction of the team leader.
- 4. Monitor changes related to on-line help documentation and resourcs
and inform the userhelp team of any changes which may be useful or
important in responding to user questions.
User Guide
- Project Leader: none.
- Mailing list and archive: none.
- Tasks for User Guide volunteers:
- 1. Write material for a user guide intended for users at all levels.
- 2. Proofread and/or edit written material to ensure a professional,
error-free presentation.
- 3. Verify information contained within the User Guide for techincal
accuracy.
- 4. Develop graphics and compile information into a standard format
for publication.
