Index of Subjects Not to knock gcc, but egcs has been making huge strides lately in it's development and performance. I'd recommend to anyone looking for better performance to recompile with egcs and some appropriate optimization flags. It's autoconf'd, so I see no reason why it wouldn't work on a variety of UNIX (and UNIX-like) systems. I will say I haven;t tried it on anything other than linux however, so take this advice with a grain of salt or two. :) See http://egcs.cygnus.com for the docs I think, (or check it out of CVS from :pserver:anoncvs@egcs.cygnus.com:/egcs/carton/cvsfiles).
