The computer I use at home has a Bitcom modem which I activate from DOS. I
wonder if this software is the source of the problem.  I will try to
access my Csuite account from the University next week to see if the 
messages are accented.  If such is the case, there will be no doubt that
Bitcom is the culprit.  In the meantime, I'll appreciate any piece of
advice that could allow me to correct the situation "here and now".
