It may be a matter of semantics but I would caution against the "instant activation" option. I for one am very tired of being spammed by a hotmail account, write the abuse@hotmail address to complain, have the account shut down and then get the same spam from another account a couple of days later. If there is one aspect of community networking that I affirm, it is that users are people and cannot hide behind the anonymity of their actions (just like a real community). We require users to share some form of ID before getting a user account--even if it is only a voided cheque blank. In this way they can't use their account inappropriately and absolve themselves of the consequences by simply picking a new on-line persona. -- Daryle Niedermayer President Great Plains Free-Net Inc. http://www.gpfn.sk.ca ============================================================= == Regina's only community-owned and community-run network == =============================================================
