I suspect its a case of the PAT terminals not supporting the characters,
but I am not sure. In anycase, I don't believe they should use VT100, one
should find out what is the best emulation, depending on how they are
configured.

Hyperterminal doesn't stand a chance, I don't know why MS even=20
included it :(

Don't know Procomm...

I tried Ewan, but didn't like it. =20

Right now I'm using TeraTermPro 2 (32 bit) (16 bit also available as
TeraTerm 1) and I quite like it, at least for its telnet capabilities,
although it claims to do do dial-up as well. Also comes with a macro
language. Free. http://omni.cc.purdue.edu/~xniu/winsock/win95/telnet.htm
and look under "T"

I use MS's Courier New font, which has the extended characters, and I
thought I had to set the display character set to PC850 (whatever that
choice is... can't see it right now because beta-lynx list is broken, so
we are forced to use Lynx 2.4 which doesn't have the options.) Still Pine
is working, so I'm not sure what to make of that :-?=20

The more I use it, the more I like it :-)
I'm composing on a 132x42 screen now (which is what was to blame for last
week's wide lines on the meeting notes - the system uses it automatically)

Anyway, just my 2 cents.
