Passing by Grey River we pushed on to Bay de Vieux and anchored in Dog Cove by 1830. Taking the dinghy toward the inviting beach, we were able to row upstream a short way before the stream shoaled up enough to become impassible for the boat. We observed grave markers up on the grass knoll but blackflies put any thoughts of an extended reconnaissance out of our minds.
