Hello Fellow Botanists: The Frog Pond / Dingle Park in Halifax has a few medium sized (15-20cm trunk diameter) American Beech trees, with numerous small trees (2-5cm trunk diameter) around. All trees have light green coloured leaves, with the exception of one of the larger trees. Its leaves are noticeable reddish. The leave shape and texture are as in the typical American Beech. Is this colour variation known from other places? Could it be a hybrid with the European Copper Beech? Burkhard
