APRIL 30/20 =97 After a walk in my east-end Wolfville neighborhood, as I = approached my apartment=92s front door at 45 Woodman Road, I heard an = unfamiliar bird call twice, but it stopped calling. Also I heard = several times what sounded like distant drumming woodpecker =97 this was = persistent, and I ended up with the conclusion that I was hearing a = snoring leopard frog. Our apartment has two adjacent small artificial = ponds, and now I will have to check these after dark for any amphibian = calls like peepers.=20 Earlier today I discovered a pussy willow species with large flowering = male catkins, and also an impressive showing of hundreds of flowering = heads of coltsfoot, on the edge of our gravel walking trail around our = apartment buildings. Cheers from Jim in Wolfville.= --Apple-Mail=_A57D8E73-209E-47EB-A871-1B9FC1527DF7 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Type: text/html; charset=windows-1252 <html><head><meta http-equiv=3D"Content-Type" content=3D"text/html = charset=3Dwindows-1252"></head><body style=3D"word-wrap: break-word; = -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;"><div = style=3D"margin: 0px;"><b>APRIL 29/20</b> =97 I checked a few local = <b>bald eagle nests</b> by car today:</div><div style=3D"margin: 0px; = min-height: 14px;"><br></div><div style=3D"margin: 0px;">(a) Eye Rd./Hwy = 1, Grand Pre: no eagles seen at all;</div><div style=3D"margin: 0px; = min-height: 14px;"><br></div><div style=3D"margin: 0px;">(b) North Grand = Pre, Leung=92s nest on west Long Island: female eagle sitting on the = nest rim =97 day warm but with cool westerly wind;</div><div = style=3D"margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><br></div><div style=3D"margin: = 0px;">(c) North Grand Pre, new nest just west of road to Evangeline = Beach, on West Long Island: the adult female eagle was on the nest but = was very interested in something in the unseen nest cup =97 perhaps she = was just adjusting some nest material, but maybe she had a hatchline or = two up there?;</div><div style=3D"margin: 0px; min-height: = 14px;"><br></div><div style=3D"margin: 0px;">(d) Anglican Church on Main = St. in east Wolfville: female eagle sitting on/in nest.</div><div = style=3D"margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><br></div><div style=3D"margin: = 0px;"><b>APRIL 30/20 </b>=97 After a walk in my east-end Wolfville = neighborhood, as I approached my apartment=92s front door at 45 Woodman = Road, I heard an unfamiliar bird call twice, but it stopped = calling.
