I reported the one near St. Peter's. Several days later I saw it
again about a mile away. They are the first I've seen in this area this
year, but the last few years they've been seen once or twice a year,
often after a big wind. They are still a good bird for this area, any
many local birders haven't seen one.

sighting from both Cape Breton and Newfoundland! Although not as
frequent as in the southwest part of the mainland, they do not appear to
be rare. In the case of Cape Breton the sightings have mostly been along
the coast but have covered the entire island. Within the last 30 days
there were two sightings, one near Mabou, and one near St. Peters.

asked me if sightings are frequent or common there. I'm not able to
respond to how often turkey vultures are seen in Cape Breton unless I
get input from locals. I've not visited Cape Breton enough times to be
able to satisfactorily answer the question so your responses will help
me also.
