Well, "New Scientist" is, to say it this way, a bit on the sensationalisti=
c site and tends to leave -often questionable and disputable- statements ma=
de in its articles unsupported, i.e. without providing sources that allow v=
erification .As already mentions the claim that "We have found that one cig=
arette butt soaked in a litre of water for 96 hours leaches out enough toxi=
ns to kill half of the fresh or salt water fish exposed to them." is not ba=
cked-up in any way to allow verification. Who is "we" and where this study =
was done (and published)?=C2=A0

I think of New Scientist as being a reputable publication but it would ce=
rtainly be good to have the details of the experiment if people might act o=
n the results.
