Index of Subjects And sure enough I heard my first BW Hawk today at a location where a pair nested last year. Here is its piercing call if you are not familiar with it. Recording begins with crackling leaves courtesy of my dog: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/155155541 Heard my first Winter Wrens at the same location. Four birds, all singing. I find this to be a short version of their normal rambling tune. All birds were using the same abbreviated song. Perhaps just breaking in upon arrival. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/155160841 Nancy D E Dalhousie, Kings > On Apr 30, 2019, at 7:57 PM, nancy dowd <nancypdowd@gmail.com> wrote: > > I have my ears primed to hear the piercing BW Hawk call any day now in the woods around here (E Dalhousie, Kings). Love that sound and it is one heard from the time they arrive in spring until leaving in fall. Seems to be a general purpose vocalization. > > Nancy D > > Sent from my iPad > > On Apr 30, 2019, at 12:28 PM, garymurray <garymurray@ns.sympatico.ca> wrote: > >> >> Hi all, >> >> First Broad Wing Hawk of the season today, circling overhead while on the roof of the Veterans Memorial bldg.
