Hi All,
With regard to the question "Is this choke cherry or black cherry"=20
my answer is "Yes, without doubt it is either one or the other." In=20
general, photographs are not diagnostic. I frequently can not recognize=20
photographs of plants which I have seen and known for 78 years.
For a sometimes certain ID, one should have a flora, a hand lens and=
=20
time to learn.

Offhand I would have said this small tree was a Chokecherry (Prunus virgini=
ana). But after checking I see it is more likely a Black Cherry (P. serotin=
a) based on the leaves being fully out while in flower and the length of th=
e hanging flower clusters. Which ID is correct? As the captions say, the le=
aves are ~3=E2=80=9D long.<br />
