As in most recent years, we have had at least one pair of Baltimore orioles
nest building and feeding young in the weeping willow=E2=80=98s around our =
pond.
This year there is a dead male that seems to be attached in someway or
hanging from the bottom of the nest. It has now been present for over a
week and does not appear to be rotting or predated . I suspect it got
caught up in a tangle or might even have been attacked by another male or
something. It is too high and far out on a limb to retrieve it. Meanwhile a
female is visiting the top of the nest every 10 to 15 minutes or so and I
have observed her carrying away a faecal sac. There is at least one other
male that flies around our property, calling and singing.
